Class of 2022 Senior Parents Challenge - Days 7 & 8

Last fall, lots of parents did the "Class of 2022 Senior Parents" challenge. I was nominated and like many was busy, ignored, said I'll do it later, couldn't pick photos, was in denial, etc. Well, now I wish I'd done it. So to those who nominated me or shared their kids photos with me, thanks. I'll take my turn and cram the ten days into 5 so I'm done before graduation. And I'll spare everyone the nominations because well, everyone's already done it. Cheers to all you parents of seniors doing this emotional time with me! Here goes...

This is Days 7 & 8 of 10 day “Class of 2022 Senior Parents” challenge. I will select an image from a day in the life of being a parent of a senior and post it without explanation. That’s 10 days, 10 photos 0 explanations.

One week of school

One more week of K-12 school for Max. Five school days. one more Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I used to tell him that in anticipation of the summer fun and eventually the fall school year starting. An entirely new meaning this year. My heart continues to go between swelling out of excitement and pride to sadness. Presume that's going to continue for a few weeks. Maybe months! Thinking of all you parents going through the same during this season. So many ups and downs for kids and parents as we reach this milestone and new chapters soon begin. May we all find patience and grace as we love, grow, struggle, soar and find our way.

Mom, can you bring me.....

Less than 3 weeks of high school left and he still on (rare) occasion needs me to bring him something. Let me be honest, once he moves out, he can ask me more than rarely!

Good night

The boys all had good, albeit boring they tell me, first days back at school. All were happy and ready to return today. It felt good to all of us to have a normal start. There may be lots of masks and some things that are very different but friends and learning can still be the same.

One of my highlights if not my highlight of the return is that last night while I was working with Traci and Jana on some items for football season, Max came up to me, told me he was going to bed, let me hug him, kiss his check and say I love you. He returned the I love you. That is a start of senior year happy moment. Thanks, kid.  This year is going to be hard, those moments will make it harder and happier.
