This morning is the start of the last week of Max's first year of college. How is this possible??? I feel so blessed that he choose to go to the University of Iowa. It's given us a special bond and opportunities to see each other. He doesn't stop in my office often and primarily it's when we've arranged something or he's picking up/dropping something off for himself. Today, I got one of those perks of him being here and growing in his thoughtfulness. He got me a chai (even had it made with skim milk and told me so) when he stopped at Cortado. The drink is cold but oh how the gesture warmed my heart. Love this kid so much.

Hawkeye Visit Day
Captured in a rare dry moment today. Hawkeye Visit Day with Max! Although I work at University of Iowa it was a bit nostalgic to go thru a visit day with my kid! 💛🖤
(And on here I will write it - Please pick to be a Hawkeye, Maxwell Robert!)

Mom value
This weekend Max killed my heart and warmed my heart all in a matter of about a minute. Typical parent/kid relationship, right?
I don't remember what triggered it but as Max and Grace were playing ping pong and I was talking with them, Max said something like "mom, you realize in a couple of years I'll be off to college and not living at home? I won't be around to see you all the time"
Big sigh and "yes, Max I do. I hope then you realize the value of your mom then. All the great things I taught you."
Laughing, "yeah, maybe." Love his smile. "I already know your value mom."
Yep, I cannot decide my heart was torn apart or strengthened in that moment.
