Swimming......

Spent a lot of time at the house today. It's really coming together and beautiful. The plan is to do our handprints tomorrow and SWIM!!!!!!

Gathered all in the screened in porch tonight to talk about pool rules. We had moans, sarcasm, laughter and anticipation. They don't love all the rules, they'll break some of them, they'll have fun (our number one rule with be safe and smart right with it) and we'll feel blessed to have the pool.

Here's to 1520 Salm Drive almost done.....

Counter

I am in love with the counter in the bar/kitchenette and wine room. I fell in love with it for that space the minute I saw it on the back counter at Cabinet Style with Amy. She had just received it and it was laying out before being put away. Cambria Levven. I told Amy, Andy and Eric that it was the one I wanted to splurge on. Seeing it today, I have no regrets!

Other progress -
  • pool has been thru one filter and looking like we may be able to swim on Friday or Saturday!!!!!
  • first half of patio concrete is poured
  • lower treads are on the steps and they look awesome
  • painting is nearing completion
  • faucet fixtures are all in
  • stone moving along
The house looks amazing. I am feeling blessed, loved and super excited!!!

Quiet and Happy Memories

April 30, 2020 - 1520 Salm Drive
Sitting on top of the Nueske while pool work happens below
These people. I love them. We just had a fantastic week together (actually a couple more days than a week). The time was so so good. Yes, we're in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic. Yes, we had sibling fights, stressful moments, times people wanted space, tears, loss of patience. Here's what else we had:
  • meals together
  • Spicy UNO, Balderdash and Phase 10
  • hot tub
  • Scavenger hunt
  • episodes
  • Spike ball
  • soccer
  • grandparents
  • monkey bread and donuts
  • house visits
  • laughter
  • sleepovers
  • walks with Ryah
  • puzzles
  • talks
I'll take all of it over and over and over again. Tonight is quiet. Andy and Hayden are driving the three boys back to Pennsylvania. My boys are with Mitch. Ryah is asleep on my bed behind me. My heart is sad at the quiet yet oh so full by the time and memories together.

House update and planning fun

Stopped to look at the house today. Wow! So much progress since I was there last week. Second floor is nearly framed. Garage framing is done after waiting for a steel beam and a couple of truss pieces that needed to go the length of the short direction. It really looks so much like a house. The roof is just getting started.

Graham and Pierce went with me. We all braved the temporary steps to take a look at the second floor. Wish I could load the large video file Graham made. I love it.

We are feeling very blessed and excited tonight. Graham took time to layout both his first choice bedroom (front one at the top of the stairs) and second choice (back corner overlooking the pool). His excitement and engagement with this process makes me smile deeply.

Lower Level Rooms FRAMED!!!!

Max just called me Facetime and gave a walking tour of the downstairs of the new house. I love that he keeps stopping to check the house, take pictures and share with everyone. All lower level rooms are framed - two bedrooms, bathroom, powder room, mechanical/storage room, exercise room, pool bathroom, bar and great room just run together - sauna and wine room have to be put in since details are not decided. It's beginning to feel like a house and you can think about where things will located and what will happen in each space. So stinking exciting.

He's happy too - like we told him, his room feels bigger and good now that it is framed!
